Before I begin, let me draw attention to the fact that I get excited when my food unintentionally matches my clothing.
Let me clearly state that I enjoy my treats, but I certainly stay on track for most of my meals with balancing proteins with veggies and fruit. This is what our meal prep endeavors yield. I appreciate that my husband also eats what I eat.
Back to that balance piece….We save ice cream outings for celebrating special occasions. Even when embarking on this celebrations I still aim to indulge healthfully. This is sinless sweet cream frozen yogurt from Coldstone to which I added chopped almonds.
I have two little boys who certainly enjoy their servings of ice cream. Even during family gatherings where various sweet treats are available, I pull out my healthier alternative treats. This Enlightened ice cream is lower calorie and absolutely delicious. I can’t decide which flavor I love the most because all those that I have tried have been deeeelicious.
Another way we treat ourselves is with pizza. But we often make our own at home. This is mine which looks huge but is actually quite mini. I put minimal cheese on top and loaded up on the veggies such as onions, mushrooms, and tomatoes.
Not all treats contain protein so I incorporate Vital Proteins collagen whey where I can. I’ve been researching different ways to incorporate this into more of the foods we eat and I’m looking forward to trying some new recipes!
An unexpected treat occurs when you realize that Ellie Golding signed the treat that you are currently enjoying. GoMacro bars are one of my favorites, especially this Coconut + Almond Butter + Chocolate Chip flavor. Apparently this is also Ellie’s favorite, hence the signature bar. I immediately turned my Spotify station to her music and listened along as I treated myself to this snack.
Treats are always “On My Mind” but the key is to choose healthfully and eat in ways that will nourish your body and make you feel good.
